BCAA Hydro Fuel: What are BCAA’s?
Branched-chain amino acids or BCAAs are three of the nine essential amino acids. They are ‘essential’ because they must be consumed through one’s diet as your body does not produce them, while the remaining eleven amino acids can be synthesised within the body.
Leucine, isoleucine and valine are the three BCAAs and can be consumed from a variety of protein rich foods and drinks, as well being available as a BCAA supplement. Animal proteins and some plant based proteins are classified as ‘complete proteins’ meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids, including BCAAs.
Everybody needs BCAAs in their diet, but the physical stressors placed on athletes bodies means protein and BCAAs are even more important for recovery and optimal performance. BCAAs, especially leucine, help regulate protein metabolism by promoting muscle protein synthesis and suppressing protein breakdown.
Using BCAAs before and during your training, can cause less delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and improve recovery time. Declining levels of BCAAs have also been noted to cause an increase in tryptophan and therefore serotonin in the brain, contributing to fatigue and tiredness so consuming BCAAs during training should contribute to delaying physical and psychological fatigue.
BCAAs and Whey Protein?
BCAAs are the only amino acids that are absorbed directly into the bloodstream, unlike other amino acids that are regulated by the gut and liver. This is ideal for supplementing BCAAs pre or during training.
Whey protein, derived from cows milk, is one of the sources of complete protein, with all nine essential amino acids. It is the most concentrated form of protein and BCAAs available and for that reason is widely used in for enhancing athletic recovery and performance as well as being a convenient way of increasing ones protein intake.

Kinetica’s BCAA Hydro Fuel not only contains 7g of BCAAs in a 4:1:1 ration but also Optipep Hydrolysed Whey Protein Isolate and 1000mg Citruline Malate.
Optipep Hydrolysed Whey Protein Isolate (pre-digested) – provides a complete amino acid profile, known to stimulate muscle protein synthesis, facilitate rapid absorption & an improved insulin response.
Optipep® Hydrolysed Whey Protein Isolate is the most advanced and purest source of whey protein ( low fat, low lactose) broken down into di and tri peptides & derived from Irish grass fed, hormone free cow’s milk.
Citrulline Malate – metabolite of Arginine that supports the reduction of muscle fatigue, increase aerobic endurance and improve blood circulation. BCAAs + Citrulline Malate are known for their anabolic and anti-catabolic properties.
