Natalya got into Modern Pentathlon from an early age as she was very talented in swimming, running, shooting and horse riding; Four of the five disciplines in Modern Pentathlon. It was only when she was a little older that she picked up the fifth discipline in fencing and things went on from there.
She went from being an amateur to professional and started competing in various competitions. Natalya was doing so well in these competitions that she qualified for World Championships.
Training as a modern pentathlete is not easy as no day is the same. With 5 different disciplines to train in, every day is not only physically tough. Training would be split into endurance days and power days. The endurance days would consist of running and swimming while the power days would consist of gym work and fencing.
