Ben Youngs is England’s scrum half and the youngest ever player to represent the Leicester Tigers.
The 21 year old has burst onto the rugby scene after earning rave reviews from the Leicester Academy coaches. After making a couple of substitute appearances, including an appearance in the 2006-07 Premiership final, Ben really hit his stride last season when his scintillating form earned him the Discovery of the season award and a first England call up.
Ben’s first start for England saw him score a try which led to a historic win over Australia in Sydney in June 2010. His influence in the England team has grown steadily and Ben was again at his best when he played a prominent part in a 34-18 win against the Wallabies earning himself the Man of the Match award in the process.
Ben was part of the England under-20 team that won the grand slam in 2008 and he has also represent England in the finals of the 2008 and 2009 World Junior Championships.
Born in Cawston, Norfolk and educated at Gresham’s School in Holt, he played for North Walsham before joining Leicester and is the son of Nick Youngs, the Tigers’ scrum half, who won six England caps in 1983-84 and brother of Tom who is also plays for Leicester.
